Mission Statment
Upper Savannah River (U.S.R.) ARES. Mission Statement U.S.R. ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) is a volunteer organization of skilled Amateur Radio operators, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Who provide non-commercial emergency communication services during emergencies, and disasters as a public service to the Emergency Operations Center and other public and private service agencies of Elberton and Hart County Georgia.

The purpose of the USR A.R.E.S. Unit is to provide communications support when normal Channels become unreliable or overcrowded.

• To promote community-wide understanding of the amateur radio communications service available to the public during times of emergency or natural disaster. • To organize and train units capable of maintaining communications during emergencies as a public service. • To promote interest and proficiency in amateur radio communications with respect to improving operating and technical skills.
• To conduct activities and programs to advance the general interest and welfare of amateur radio in our community.
